On Tuesday, April 10, 2007, please join co-sponsors The San Francisco Green Party Sustainability Committee,  San Francisco Post Carbon, and San Francisco Oil Awareness for a presentation by David Fridley entitled "The Myths of Biofuels." Please forward the attached pdf flyer to anyone you know who might be interested in this very important and timely presentation.

The presentation will address the following questions (and more):

What is the energy return for biofuels vs. the energy used to produce them?
What is the environmental impact of biofuels production?
Do biofuels have a future? 
Are biofuels a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels?

David Fridley has 25 years of experience working and living in China. Prior to 1993, Mr. Fridley led the China Energy Project at the East-West Center in Hawaii primarily in the area of petroleum supply and demand, refinery analysis and modeling, international oil trade and energy policy. Concurrently, he was a consultant with Fesharaki Associates. From 1993 to 1995, he worked as Business Development Manager in refining and marketing for Caltex China. Since 1995, Mr. Fridley has been a staff scientist and leader of the China Energy Group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California, where his work involves extensive collaboration with the Chinese on end-use energy efficiency, industrial energy use, government energy management programs, data compilation and analysis, medium and long term energy policy research. 

He is a fluent Mandarin speaker, and very involved in issues surrounding the potential problems associated with peak oil.
